DESCRIPTION

This dissertation sought to rethink and suggest implications on some of the Christians attitudes and approaches towards relating with diverisified cultural groups of people. For this, the passage of 1 Cor. 9:19-23 was exegitically analyzed in light of cultural relativism.

In the text, Paul demonstrated a lifestyle of dealing with varied cultural groups of people in the spirit of relativity, yet with moral boundaries. As such, the text manifests cultural relativism with regards to relating with people of different cultures. This dissertation expounded and demonstrated on those principles, which then became the principles of the proposed Christian cultural relativist.

By and large, this dissertation suggested cultural relativism as one of the possible and practical ways to apply 1 Cor. 9: 19-23. The text is the reference point for the Christian cultural relativist. Recommended implications for Asian contexts were also drawn from this study.
