DESCRIPTION

One of the greatest expressions of worship and adoration was written by George Handel. He called his oratorio Messiah. During the Christmas season we often hear it sung or played but many listeners do not realize that the entire text of the musical is drawn from Scripture - and it includes many of the Old Testament passages that shaped Israel's hope for their Redeemer.

The eight studies in The Messiah: The Texts Behind Handel's Masterpiece will deepen your understanding of the biblical passages about the coming of the Messiah and if done near the time of Advent or Easter, will prepare you for the season. Any time of the year, these studies will draw you closer to Jesus in adoration and appreciation. Each session's study include a Scripure Reference for you to read prior to the study, discussion and personal reflection questions, and commentary notes. Enhance your enjoyment by playing a recording of significant sections of the Messiah as part of your Bible study.
