Totika is a Maori word, which means "well balanced". Polynesians were the first settlers in what is now the country of New Zealand. They arrived on the North Island between A.D 800 and 1200 with plants and animals. Various tribes grew and spread throughout the North and South islands. Europeans, arriving hundreds of years later, first used the term Maori in reference to all the native people. Maori is said to mean "normal" or "usual" people.
