DESCRIPTION

Explore Paul's three letters to Timothy and Titus within their historical, religious, and cultural settings with Philip Towner's seminal commentary The Letters to Timothy and Titus [NICNT] covering 1&2 Timothy and, of course, Titus.

Highlighting the wealth and breadth of modern scholarship and its vast diversity of perspectives on these books, Towner marshals well-argued, reasonable, and compelling evidence in support of Pauline authorship.

He sets out the rationale underwriting his historical approach, questions certain assumptions of recent critical scholarship, and establishes the uniqueness and individuality of each letter. With a superb translation of the Greek text and thorough footnotes, bibliographies, and indices, this addition to the NICNT continues its reputation for scholarly integrity, incisive analysis, and biblical faithfulness and as such is an excellent reference for pastors, students, and scholars.
