CHRISTIAN MISSIONS IN THE POWERFUL PREACHING OF THE WORD & DEMONSTRATION OF THE SPIRIT

Essentially a commentary on the book of Acts, the central thesis of this dissertation is the flowering of the two fundamental elements in Luke's account  - (1) the proclamation of the Gospel through (2) signs and wonders following.

With a broad sweep in narrative and literary analysis, the author invites the reader to embark on a captivating journey into the world of 1st century Christianity. With theological precision, narrative skill and a sharp discernment into things biblical, Asian scholar and theologian, Babu Immanuel has revealed to us not only the peripheral message of his work, but the exuberant world of biblical study and Christian theology.

As one of the largest religious bodies in the world, with liberally close to 2 billion adherents worldwide,  Christianity has given the world not only the influential institution of the Church, but an entire worldview that has shaken the very foundations of primal civilization.

Within these pages show a biblical-historical account of the story of the Christian Church, and how its phenomenal growth has came about, through the account of the writer and physician, Luke. This work is a call to ecclesiological missions, and how the explosive growth is due to the anointed preaching and demonstration of the Gospel.

The book includes chapters on:

  • The methods, limitations and structure of the study he has undertaken
  • Conversion as a theme in Acts
  • The Miraculous in Acts (as well as in the OT & Greco-Roman understanding)
  • Mission-related discourses in Acts
  • etc etc

This work is a valuable resource and reference to own in regards to the biblical advocacy of the miraculous in church growth.

"This is a scholarly work in the best sense of the word, rooted in a deep sensitivity to the world of the New Testament." - Prof. Judith Lieu, Professor of NT Studies, King's College, London
