DESCRIPTION

Nicholas of Cusa's appreciation of individuality, creativity, and scientific precision was rooted in 15th-century rationality. Yet his "modern" vision can provide insights into our postmodern life. Examining Cusa's thought, Hoff offers a fresh history of modernity, the related secularization narrative, a deconstruction of basic assumptions underlying postmodernism, and a liturgically grounded concept of commonsense realism.
