DESCRIPTION

"Preaching the Word is prophesying in the name and on behalf of Christ. Through Preaching those who hear are called into the state of grace, and preserved in it."

The Art of Prophesying is a classic work by the puritan, William Perkins. This text still speaks today for its pragmatic guidelines on expository preaching. Rather than relying on lavish methods, Perkins advocated a kind of "studied plainness" towards the Scriptures which better facilitated the ministry of Word and Spirit in the Church.
