DESCRIPTION

Synopsis from the back of the book:

You're no idiot of course. You know that the Torah documents the history and teachings of the Jewish faith. But it is only one part of Hebrew Scripture, which also includes the Prophets and the Writings that examine the overall destiny and redemption of the Jewish people as well as all aspects of human experience and emotion.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Hebrew Scripture explores the origins of Judaism's religious beliefs and how those beliefs are applied to contemporary life. In it, you get:

• A theological overview of each part of the Tanakh - from the first five books of Moses to the Book of Chronicles.
• Explanations of how the predictions of such prophets as Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel influenced Jewish thought
• Inspirational messages of hope in times of crisis from the Poetical books
