DESCRIPTION
Narrated by Academy Award-winner Ben Kingsley, this multi-award-winning program is the most complete portrait of the world-renowned author considered by many to be the greatest Christian writer of the 20th century. C. S. Lewis continues to bring magic into the lives of readers young and old with his classic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia. He is one of the most commercially successful authors.
None of his 38 books have ever been out of print. Broadcast on public television, this illuminating program chronicles Lewis's remarkable life--his childhood in Northern Ireland and the devastating loss of his mother, the profound impact of World War I on his belief system, his acclaimed academic career at Britain's prestigious Oxford and Cambridge Universities, his storied friendship with Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien, his transition from atheist to Christian, and his late-in-life love story with his wife, Joy. It features lively interviews with world-renowned Lewis scholars, family members, friends, as well as Oscar-nominated actress Debra Winger (Shadowlands).
