DESCRIPTION

If the ancients could view our book and digital culture today, they would stare in glassy-eyed disbelief. Yet we confidently look back on their world of oral and textual transmission through an overlay of distortions, not fully comprehending just what a foreign and long-lost world it is. Gutenburg and his offspring changed everything.

In The Lost World of Scripture John Walton and Brent Sandy take us behind the veil of time to explore the realities of ancient oral and scribal culture and what it means for our understanding of the composition of Scripture.
