TRACT TEXT
CHECK EITHER “YES” OR “NO”
Jesus, God’s Son, died on the Cross and came back to life three days later.
By dying, Jesus took the punishment for all the bad things (sins) people have ever done.
I can trust Jesus to save me from the punishment I deserve because His death paid for all my sins.
if you can answer “YES” to each quiz question and if you have personally asked Jesus to save you, the Bible says you are one of God’s own children. Welcome to God’s family! Now that you have trusted Jesus to save you, there are some things you should KNOW and some things you should DO. As one of God’s “kids” you should KNOW and always remember that:
• Jesus will never leave you. He said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). Jesus is always with you!
•You are going to live forever with Jesus. Jesus also said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:28).
• God, your heavenly Father, has sent His Holy Spirit to live in you and help you live a life that pleases Him. Jesus told us that our Helper, “the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things...” (John 14:26).
Now, here is what you need to DO:
1. Read God’s Instructions.
See this map? You may have seen Mom or Dad using a map like this when you went on a trip. They used it to stay on the right road and end up in the right place. God has given us a “map” that shows us how we can please Him. God’s “map” is the Bible. Just like we can get confused without a map, it is easy to get confused about our life with Jesus if we don’t read the instructions He gives us in the Bible. Reading the Bible shows us the path God wants us to follow. You might start to read in John 3, John 19-20, Psalm 103:1-14, or verses like 1 John 5:11-13, Ephesians 4:32, and Philippians 4:6–8.
2. Pray to God
Look at the picture below. The girl knows she should be doing her homework, but she’s watching TV instead. What she is doing doesn’t match what she knows she should do! You might think that since Jesus has saved you you wouldn’t ever want to disobey Him. But some- times we disobey God when we should obey Him. What we should do often doesn’t match what we do. When we disobey, we need to admit it to God. God asks us to talk to Him in prayer, and part of prayer is agreeing with God that disobeying is wrong. That is called confession of our sin (1 John 1:9). But we can also ask God to help us obey Him and do what is right. We need to thank Him, too, for all the good things He gives us: food, friends, parents, a home, and especially Jesus. And we need to ask God to save our family and friends if they don’t have Jesus as their Savior. Praying means talking to God by confessing our sins to Him, asking for His help, and thanking Him for all He means to us.
3. Be a Friend to Other People
When you look in a mirror, who do you see? You, of course! But after Jesus has saved you, He wants you to look around for other people, too. There are two kinds of people you need to look for:
You need to look for other people who have Jesus as their Savior (Hebrews 10:25).
Church is a good place to be with others who have trusted Jesus. Sunday School teachers and a pastor who can help you understand the Bible are very important as you learn about God. If you can find some friends outside of church who love Jesus, that’s great! Others who have trusted Jesus like you have, can help you as you serve God.
You need to tell others who don’t know Jesus, that He wants to pay for their sins, too.
If you have asked Jesus to save you, I’m sure you’re glad you know Him. Why not tell someone else that Jesus died for them and wants them to live forever, too? All they have to do is trust Jesus like you did. The best gift you can give to someone is to tell them about Jesus. Maybe you look forward to the day when you will be a “grown-up.” Wouldn’t it be a shame if you grew up and didn’t learn more and more about Jesus? If you begin to do what we talked about, you will please God, and you will “grow up in the Lord,” just like the Bible says!
