The need for mentoring among women is stronger today than ever before. Our society is so mobile that most people no longer live near family. This has a great affect on the need for a local support system—someone who is more easily accessible. A younger woman may be looking for a mother figure if she lives far from family, if her mother is no longer living, or if that relationship is less than positive. An older woman may have an empty nest and be looking to "adopt" a daughter to spent time with. Also, the demands placed on mothers are greater now than ever before. New mothers need help knowing how to balance all the demands placed on them. Based on Titus 2:3-5 and Psalm 145:4a, Woman to Woman Mentoring guides women's ministry leaders to start, grow, and maintain a mentoring ministry. The Leader Kit provides all the information and resources necessary for beginning, growing, and maintaining a women's mentoring ministry. Author Janet Thompson is the Woman to Woman Mentoring Ministry lay leader at Saddleback Community Church in Lake Forest, California. She developed and continues to lead the women's mentoring ministry at that church. The mentoring ministry has had a positive impact in the lives of thousands of women worldwide since being founded at Saddleback in January 1996.
